Scientists Say That Starting Work Before 10am Is Similar To Torture

Dr. Paul Kelley is a leading researcher at Oxford University. In a recent study, together with a team of experts he discovered that starting work before 10 o’clock in the morning is similar to torturing. He calls it ‘the modern day torture’.

This is something that many of us are affected on a daily basis.

Circadian Rhythm is our biological timer that all our bodies run on. In other words, it is our body clock which is pre-programmed cycle that regulates our brain activity, hormone production, perception of time and energy levels.

Dr. Kelly claims that starting work before 10 am we are scientifically torturing ourselves. That means that we are unnaturally interfering with the Circadian Rhythm. This process also harms our balance of health.

Kelley says:
“We cannot change our 24-hour rhythms. You cannot learn to get up at a certain time…your liver and your heart have different patterns and you’re asking them to shift two or three hours.”

How Did This Happen?
In the early 20th century, the 8-hour working time was made for maximization of 24/7 factory productivity. However, without regarding the natural human body clock. Our bodies are designed in accordance with the daily cycle of sunlight. Since commerce and business are based on profit making, they don’t really care about aspects like this one.

Dr. Paul Kelley, speaking at the British Science Festival says:
“We’ve got a sleep deprived society” and “This is an international issue. Everybody is suffering and they don’t have to.”

His recommendation is to move the time of the school in Britain from 8.30 am to 10.00 am. Furthermore, he did a research in one school and was not to his surprise to see the attendance levels going dramatically up and also the general productivity of the school.

The grades of the students were up drastically!

This idea can have a massive improvement I the whole society. Instead of overworked, overtired and coffee intoxicated zombies we can simply change that and become more focused, fully fledged, naturally more productive society. Furthermore, our happiness levels naturally will go up.

Furthermore, he explained that this is the reason the average American consumers drink over 3 cups of coffee every single day to try and keep themselves as alert as they possibly can.
To put that into perspective, that’s 40 billion dollars a year – on coffee!
