Recent studies have shown that aluminum foil can be dangerous. One study found out how the aluminum, caused by heat, can come out from the foil and go inside our food.
This can be extremely harmful, since aluminum is dangerous in big amounts, and we get big amounts from the foil. So, the aluminum is accumulated in our brain and bones and can lead to many diseases and conditions, like Alzheimer’s and osteoporosis.
Dr. Zubaidy is one of the scientists who started this study.
This is what he said:
“The higher the temperature, the more the leaching. Foil is not suitable for cooking and is not suitable for using with vegetables like tomatoes, citrus juice or spices.”
However, scientists noted that aluminum foil isn’t dangerous when wrapped around cold foods. The heat is the causer for the leaching.
If there are big amounts of aluminum in our body, this can cause our bones to weaken. This is because the mineralization, matrix formation and parathyroid and bone cell activity are altered. It’s also deeply connected to calcium.
When there is a lot of aluminium in the bones, the calcium levels elevate. So, the PTH secretion is very depressed. As a result, the osteoblast population is very reduced by the aluminum toxicity, so it might cause osteoporosis.
Also, high amounts of aluminum are linked to Alzheimer’s. This happens because aluminum is deposited in the brain tissue. Autopsy on people suffering from Alzheimer’s have found aluminum build-up.
So, you should try to prevent aluminum from entering your body when cooking your food.
Here are some ways to do this:
– Don’t put hot food or cook in aluminum foil. The only food that should be wrapped in it is cold food. Instead, you can put the hot food in tempered glass pans.
– Another kinds of fruits that shouldn’t be stored in aluminum foil are citrus fruits, spices and
– Use wax paper instead of the foil for hot food. There are also glass food storage containers you
– Take stainless steel pots and pans instead of the ones made of aluminum.
