According to recent studies, researchers found that kissing can lead to numerous diseases. Most of them are not very harmful, but on the other hand, there are some that are quite dangerous.

As per research, a kiss that lasts more than 10 seconds can transfer up to 80 million bacteria. The exchange on salvia can generally cause these diseases.

– Cold sores

The chances of transferring cold sores throughout kissing are quite big. The reason for them is because they’re open and have a fluid present in them. The cold sores most commonly appear on the upper lip or around it.

– Hand, foot and mouth disease

Such disease usually can be the case when there are some open sores in the mouth. As the name suggests, the disease is caused by the hands, mouth or even feet. Most commonly appears on children in daycare and preschools.

– Strep throat

The cause of strep throat is the “strep” bacteria which travels through air and can be transferred through kissing, but also and sneezing as well.

– Mononucleosis

Mononucleosis is also known as the “kissing disease.” It transfers throughout the salvia and is caused as a result of Epstein-Barr virus or EBV. There is actually no available treatment for mononucleosis.

– Periodontitis

This disease can be transferred throughout kissing and also when sharing toothbrushes.

– Meningitis

Meningitis can also be the case of kissing. This one is less severe disease than the bacterial one but it is still harmful.

– Mumps

Mumps is actually harmful as they affect the salivary glands and cause them to swell. It can usually be caused because of air droplets from nose or throat. By using vaccines, mumps can be easily prevented.

– INFLUENZA

Influenza can generally be transmitted through the air. It can also easily be transmitted from person to person with saliva exchange and sneezing as well.
